It didn’t look like I was going to make it due to the rain in the forecast but around 3:00 I said I’m going anyway. So I jumped in my car and headed to City Heights to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Truth and Love.
A Patient Man
As soon as I arrived in City Heights, I jumped out of my car and there was Barry walking down the street. I introduced myself to Barry and explained to him my purpose for being in his neighborhood. Then, I asked permission to share my testimony with him and he accepted.
Barry was so patient! He listened intently as I shared my testimony. After a few minutes tears began to well up in his eyes. When I finished sharing my testimony I prayed for Barry and then he went his way noticeably affected by the message of God’s grace.
God’s Love Knows No Color
Next I saw five men standing on the street corner. Two older men and three teenagers. Once again I introduced myself and stated my purpose for being in their neighborhood. The young men listened to me as I shared the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Then I asked to pray for them. They said yes! What happened next completely breaks down the left-wing narrative about race relations in America. There we stood, one white male and five african american males holding hands on University Avenue, one of the busiest streets in San Diego, praying to the God of The Bible.
I prayed that He would reveal Himself to these young men as He did to me nearly 20 years ago and that they would humble themselves, seek after God, be men of the Word and followers of Jesus Christ.
It’s Time To Preach
Afterward we hugged and then I kept walking. Next I crossed paths with five Latino males, four teenagers and one adult. They told me they attended a nearby church so I began to reinforce their pubescent faith.
I told them they had a head start in life attending Church and learning about Jesus at such a young age. I encouraged them to keep their eyes focused on Jesus Christ, to become men of The Bible and to make choices based on God’s Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit, not the culture around them or their own feelings.
God Causes The Growth!
The Apostle wrote in I Corinthians 3:7,
So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
Only God knows what fruit these scattered seeds will produce and that’s good enough for me. My hope and prayer is to one day be reunited with everyone I meet in Heaven.
May The Lord Richly Bless You!
